Heathcliff!

After spending all of last week watching British Invasion from the last row in the theater, tonight I watched it from Row BB, which is about as close as you can get to the stage. It made a big difference to see everything so close up, and you could definitely feel the difference in the energy level. I find that when I sit close to the stage, things can get pretty overwhelming, and you don't get to see the overall image the show creates. It's more intimate, because you can see tiny differences in facial expressions, but you also spend time swiveling your head from person to person.

Last week I downloaded several songs from the show, and I have been listening to them all week long. In particular, I have been finding the music of The Hollies to be quite enjoyable. And once you listen to it about twenty times, the Wuthering Heights song is pretty darn catchy, too. Seriously.

Thursday is the new Friday.

Yesterday I saw a moose for the first time. It was big. And, thank goodness, it didn't come anywhere near my car.

Apparently last night there was a rip-roaring thunder and lightning storm. I slept through the whole thing. Today, I drove through a thundershower, and when I got home, it followed me, so I saw it twice.

And it's still hot.

And I'm still going home tomorrow.

Melting. I'm melting.

So hot. How can it be so hot here? It's only June, for crying out loud.

I've just spent the last hour or so plastered next to one of my windows, trying to catch a bit of the very slight breeze that blows into my apartment.

To make matters worse, my neck is a wee bit sore today, which makes me want to use a heating pad. Because that's exactly what I need - more heat.

However, in better news, one more day of work and it's the weekend again! I'll be back home again on Friday!

I'm back

Oh dear, it would appear that I have greatly neglected my blogging duties. I'm sure that you, my vast readership of ten regular readers, are greatly distressed. My apologies.

My only excuse is that I was on vacation at home, and it was too lovely and too relaxing that I couldn't bring myself to write anything of significance. My mind was shut down for a bit, and I was busy recharging my batteries.

One of my vacation highlights was a fab BO/FOH party that included scrumptious birthday cake for me. Rosey made me THE birthday cake. Yes, THE birthday cake.

During the week, my mornings were spent sleeping in late, and my evenings were spent at the theater for opening week. Words cannot describe the joy I felt just sitting in a little red seat for three hours. The Centre is definitely a happy place for me. And after a lengthy hiatus, it feels so great to see Anne again.

It's a sickness, I know.

But that wasn't all. I had various lunch, supper, and post-show dates with my peeps, which also helped boost my spirits. I was just so happy spend time with everyone.

And I ate curry. And I liked it.

Today was my first day back at work, and it was another typically crazy day. It doesn't take much to wreak havoc on my state of relaxation.

Thank goodness I'll be home again this weekend!

The more things change...

... the more they stay the same. And sometimes, it sucks. It's frustrating, it's sad, and it sucks.

Dammit.

Summer!

Did I mention that I'm going home tomorrow? Because I am.

It can't come a moment sooner.

See you all there!

This is what happens when you turn 30...

Coworkers surprise you with signage...

And cake...
And your mom sends you flowers. And a balloon!

Sounds pretty good so far. But then, the thing they don't tell you about turning 30 is that when you go out in public, you are forced to wear a giant hat, and all of a sudden, your face sprouts a million wrinkles!

Thank goodness you can find solace in mail and messages from friends. I'm still trying to get the hang of birthdays away from home. Thanks everyone for all the lovely thoughts!

12 of 12 - June 2007

It's 12 of 12 day again!!! This month I actually managed to take pictures and post them, which was somehow beyond my capabilities last month. It was just another ordinary work day today, so there's not much special. But it's done!

7:30 a.m. Maybe it won't be hot today.

7:40 a.m. Doing my best snazzy pose. These are my new pants. I'm trying to overlook the fact that I'm wearing a bow.

10:30 a.m. So I've been trying to get a hold of this one guy for at least four weeks. Seriously, we play phone tag 4 times a day. Today was no exception.

12:45 p.m. No rest for the wicked. Lots of patients to see, and lots of paperwork. No time for non-blurry pictures.

5:12 p.m. Free from work at last and on my way home!

5:32 p.m. Trying really hard not to eat all these muffins. I almost succeeded.

6:40 p.m. What's this? An episode of GG's I've never seen? Lorelai's grandmother dies???

7:10 p.m. A jaunty walk. Pretty flowers.

7:20 p.m. It wasn't even a good evening for a walk. Kind of dreary and windy. Oh well.

8:03 p.m. Back from my walk. I got a little bit of a fright when I saw the dented car in the lot, but then I was relieved to realize that it's not mine.

8:20 p.m. A quick shower to wash off all the sweatiness.

8:40 p.m. Catching up on the internets before puttering around for an early bed. It's a big day tomorrow!

Viva

So, if you were watching the Tony's last night, you may have seen oodles of commercials for a new show on CBS this fall. As far as I can tell, it's about gambling, and it has Hugh Jackman in it, and there is singing.

Cop Rock: Vegas??

I am intrigued. Not intrigued enough to find out more details, but intrigued enough to tell you all.

To infinity and beyond!

Have I mentioned how much I loved visitors?

This weekend my sister and one of my brothers came for a visit. I was so excited about them coming that I was next to useless at work on Friday. I kept skipping around and telling everyone who would listen that I was having guests for the weekend.

On Saturday we made a quick trip to The Market, and then we headed Up the River to Perth/Andover, with pitstops at The World's Largest Axe and the fabulous town of Woodstock along the way. I even got to show them the scene of The Accident.

Once we were sufficiently Up the River, we crossed over into Maine, and we went to Presque Isle, where we started our official visit to the Maine Solar System model. It's the largest three- dimensional scale model of the solar system in THE WORLD. It was super cool!!! We saw the Sun in Presque Isle, and followed the highway to Houlton, Me, where we found Pluto, tucked away in a Visitor's Information Centre. Along the way, our solar system adventure was enriched by listening to Holst's The Planets.

My favourite planet was Jupiter, because it was so very big!

After a fun-filled weekend, there's an inevitable letdown after guests depart. Thank goodness I can distract myself with the Tony Awards and thoughts of my visit home next weekend!

My brother and sister are coming for a visit tomorrow!!! I'm so excited!!

Now back to clapping and twirling...

So my plans to eat peanut butter sandwiches made with extra soft bread this week were all for naught, as my teeth are actually not too bad today. A wee bit uncomfortable, but not bad.

And I was so scared. Silly Lynda strikes again.

Uncomfortably numb

You may remember my tooth tirade from March, in which I related my dismay at discovering I had several cavities is my teeth. I was doing a really good job at beating myself up about my dental neglect for a few days afterwards.

Then I had a car accident, and my thoughts shifted in a different direction, and they have been quite occupied with car accident related ponderings since that time.

However, today was my appointment to get my first ever fillings. I didn't have any major issues with the procedure itself, but I was somewhat upset (that's putting it mildly, actually) to discover that I actually have more than four cavities. At least, that's what I'm assuming, since my dentist filled three cavities on my upper right side today, and I thought I only had one there.

The freezing that they put in my mouth has yet to wear off, and I'm a little scared about what I'm going to feel like when it does. Like, how much pain am I going to have? Mammoth, searing pain? I don't deal well with that.

Meanwhile, I've bought a loaf of very soft bread, and I'm going to make some pudding for later. I'm afraid to eat, though, because the dentist said it might hurt. Not to mention the fact that the right side of my face is all droopy.

Stupid Lynda. Regular dental checkups are a good thing, everyone. Remember that.
