One for me, one for free!

It takes a while to get used to the feeling of hair on your forehead all day. I spent a lot of time in front of the mirror today, trying to make The Bangs suitable for public display. Michelle assures me that they look okay, so that makes me feel a lot better. And I am now the owner of a round brush, which I will be using in the future to style The Bangs.

How much am I loving the "buy one, get one free" movie passes from Empire?? Enough to see two movies today - Sydney White and Good Luck Chuck. Both were ideal movies to see at half price. I even got to flex my long-dormant FOH skills by finding two prime seats in a crowded theater all by myself.

BTW, stay away from Good Luck Chuck. Even though it has penguins. Just trust me and stay away.

Give me a head with hair

It's been a busy week. After my dinner party on Tuesday, I spent Wednesday night auditioning for the Christmas show at the local theater here. There were so many people there! I hope I make it into the show. I had such a blast last year.

Last night Michelle and I went to see The Nanny Diaries, which was exactly what the preview depicted. Verrrrrrrrry predictable, but no where near the atrociousness of The Black Dahlia, which still ranks as my worst. movie. ever.

And today, which was a precious day off for me, I got my hair cut. And now I have bangs. Sort of. And I went and picked out new glasses. I'm not sure if I actually like any of the frames I got, so I think I'm going so spend a lot of time in front of the mirror this weekend.

Congealed green gunge.

Tonight I had dinner at my apartment for my Tuesday Night Dinner friends. This was my first ever dinner party. Let me just say that making several things at once can be quite complicated!! I had visions of Bridget Jones in my head (blue soup, anyone?) as I made a chicken dish, rice, carrots, and dessert all at the same time.

Happily, the only complete failure was the dessert, which I found surprising, because it was the simplest to make. Apparently, though, mixing Cool Whip into chocolate pudding requires considerable skill. On my first attempt, the pudding ended up with multiple powdery bits all over. On my second attempt, I used the wrong spoon when mixing, and the mousse tasted like basil. Thank goodness I had a Plan C (rolled wafers with chocolate that I purchased in Ottawa).

I think it went okay. Everyone ate everything on their plates, so that's good. Now I have to figure out what to make for the next time.

P.S. The upside of multiple desserts? Eating the leftovers of the first two attempts. Not good enough for company, but good enough for me.

And the Emmy goes to...

Oh man... I'm trying to watch the Emmy's. I'm really trying. Whoever thought that Ryan Seacrest could host should be fired. It's quite painful, really. Why can't Brian and Stewie host the Emmy's??

And now Ray Romano is trying to be funny in the round. Who makes an awards show stage in the round??

I know it's the beginning of the tv season and all, but I just may not make it through the entire broadcast.

See, I told you all that Fredericton is the center of the universe. The ECMA's are coming in February!!! Who wants to come for a visit???

And the recovery continues....

I promise someday I'll stop talking about the state of my teeth. Until that day arrives, though, let me just say that I spent the weekend laying low and letting my mom take care of me.

I watched three movies. In order of preference, they are:

Keeping Mum (a 2005 "new release" with Mr. Bean and Professor MacGonagall. And Patrick Swayze.)

Notes on a Scandal (Judi Dench gets a wee bit obsessive over Kate Blanchett.)

Breach (a movie about corruption in the FBI that had me wondering if there were any other movies about the FBI that are actually good.)

I'm feeling pretty good. I do have a mysterious green bruise on my face that makes me look like I fell asleep in a bowl of Jello (which I didn't. Honestly.). And talking all day at work made my jaw a little sore. And having to super clean my teeth every time I eat is getting real old.

Tonight I went into Martha! mode and made my lunches for the week. I also made cookies, rice krispies squares, and a bowl of steel cut oats. And my apartment is clean. And I updated my blog!

Without wisdom

Yes, the right wisdom teeth are now gone. Surprisingly, the actual extraction was a piece of cake. I can't believe I was avoiding that for five years. I'm not so struck on the apparently normal "bloody saliva" I've been experiencing, but that seems to be getting a lot better as the day goes on. My right cheek is a little swollen, too, which makes me look like half a chipmunk.
And my mom is here, which is also great.

I must say, though, I can't wait to chew something again. I miss it.

Oh dear.

Is there anything more embarassing than realizing you spent half an hour walking around Shopper's with your pants unzipped??

Still here

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on Thursday.

On the weekend, I watched 13 episodes of Heroes.

And I'm thinking about painting my bedroom this month. All decorating suggestions welcome.
