It's all good.

Face the music and dance

I've had my fingers crossed all day for Virtue and Moir. I have been waiting all Olympics for us to win a figure skating medal. I think this could be it. I'm currently watching a German brother/sister pair, and I am determined to stay awake until the free dance is over.

I am armed with Mini Eggs (my Olympic snack of choice) and Diet Pepsi. I'm also wearing my comfy pants. It's almost 10:00, and there are about 20 skaters left. I really hope I can make it.

OLYMPICS

So once again I have been gripped by Olympic fever.

The first thing I do in the morning is check the medal standings to see if Canada has won any more medals. When I am at work, I use my iPod Touch to read Olympic news stories on my two Olympics apps. When I get home, I turn on the tv and watch Olympics until it is time to go to bed. Then I get up the next morning and do it all over again.

I am slightly sad that I did not manage to get my act together and go to Vancouver to experience the Olympics in person. I think it's much more fun to watch it on tv, but it would be an event of a lifetime to be there in person. But then I remember that I don't like large crowds of people, so perhaps it's for the best.

So far I find myself missing my beloved CBC's coverage of Olympics. I am very sick of the "I Believe" music. The first time I heard the song, I loved it. The 100th time I heard the song, it made me want to claw my ears off. This coming from the audiologist. ;)

Avatar. Yes. Good movie. At long last, I have seen it, and I see fit to recommend it. I think I am a little bit behind in the game, but I think it's a brilliant movie.

I only just realized today that The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is going on right now. I was so confused, because it's usually at the end of February. I'm guessing it's earlier this year because of the Olympics. Right now I'm watching some PEI vs. Quebec action. I don't want to jinx it, but I think we're going to win.

This week at work continues to be insane. I spent a big chunk of time packing, because they're ripping up our carpets, and we're getting tile installed. I am office-homeless until Monday. It's not a good feeling, but the end result will be worth it. :)

Gah. Tuesday.

I feel I am being punished for going away. The last few days at work have been very busy and insane, with hardly a moment to catch my breath.

I'm glad to be home for the day now, and I have consoled myself with two cupcakes. With sprinkles.

Tonight M and I are going to see Avatar. We tried to see it once before, but it was so busy that we returned our tickets. Now that it's been out for a while, hopefully we'll have better luck.

I think it was a given that Avatar would be nominated for an Oscar this year. I'm surprised to hear that the Academy has 10 best film nominees this year. Now I have even more movies to see. I was trying to avoid Hurt Locker, but I guess I have no choice now. Personally, I'm rooting for Up. :)
