Brr...

Have recovered from jet lag enough to realize that it is freaking cold outside today.

M and I are making meatloaf and salad for supper, and trying to ignore the sub-zero temperatures outside.

The weekend has been lovely, full of relaxing cleaning. I finally had the chance to clean my fridge yesterday. It was long overdue. I removed several clusters of liquified vegetables and cleaned it top to bottom. My sister and a friend are staying at my place tomorrow night, so I wanted to make sure I would not be embarrassed by the state of my fridge while they are there. I also hope to make them some cupcakes for tonight as a surprise. Psst... don't tell them. :)

Who loves winter?

I am writing to you from bed. I just woke up after a most delicious nap. I have just returned from a lovely work trip to Denmark, and I hope to write more about that soon.

But first, I must tell the tale of my adventures in airport hopping.

Yes, that's hopping, not shopping.

Winter is a tricky time to fly. You never know when snow is going to delay your travel plans. For example, I was initially worried about the 10 cm of snow that fell in Copenhagen on Wednesday night, because I was flying out so early on Thursday morning.

It turns out I should have been worried about the snow in Frankfurt, because that's what delayed my departure from that city to Canada. So I missed my connecting flight to Freddy in Montreal. No problem, I thought, because I could catch a quick flight to Ottawa and be home at 10:00, just in time to get to bed before on Friday.

The best laid plans...

So it was also snowing mightily in Montreal, meaning my plane to Ottawa had to be de-iced. So I missed my connection to Freddy.

No problem. I got booked on a flight back to Montreal. But by then, there was a ground stop in Montreal, so my flight from Ottawa was delayed. So I missed my connecting flight to Freddy. Again.

That was the last flight to Freddy for the evening. By this time, I hadn't slept since Tuesday evening, and I was a little loopy. Air Canada put me up in the hotel, and finally I got a few hours of sleep. Yay for sleep.

So this morning I was back at Trudeau airport, trying to fly to Freddy for the fourth time. The fourth time's the charm, because after a short delay to hear up the plane, I was on my way. M picked me up from the airport, and I have been in post-travel recovery mode ever since.

And now, back to napping.
