Go me!

I'm still holding down the fort in O-ville while M is away. In the last few weeks, I have managed two trips - one to Toronto for a hearing conference and a lovely evening with mel and Catherine, and one to Ottawa to visit M and eat out and shop at Ikea.

The two trips meant lots of plane travel, and I used as an opportunity to catch up on the final season of Lost. I was three episodes behind when the series finale aired, so I refrained from watching it "live" on tv. I even managed to remain spoiler-free after the finale, until my brother Jason sent me an email that revealed the happenstances of the last five minutes of the show. Oh well. I'm all caught up now!

It's been a bit quiet and lonely here with M away. This past weekend, I went to three shows, one in Woodstock and two in Freddy. All were excellent! And I'm still getting used to living in a house with a yard. Did you know that yards have grass? And that grass needs to be cut?

So here's a secret I'd like to confess...

I have never cut the grass before. Ever. In my life. And not only have I never mowed a lawn before, but I know *nothing* about the mechanics involved in using a lawn mower.

Before M left, he cut the grass really short. And he gave me a tutorial on how to use the lawn mower. And a few weeks ago M's friend mowed the lawn for me. I had mixed feelings about this. Of course I was extremely thankful for the help, and it was very kind of him to offer to assist me. On the other hand, I do enjoy being independent and fending for myself. But I was scared to use the mower because I had never done it before. What if I ran over myself and injured myself?

This weekend I noticed the grass getting long again, and this evening after supper, I took the plunge and cut the grass all by myself. And I didn't die, and I did a good job. I feel very proud of myself!

Behold my handiwork!

I think I'm gonna like it here.

I have been quite busy in the last month (even busier than usual). M and I decided to move in together, so I have spent the last few weeks packing up my stuff and moving to Oromocto, where M rents a house. I had been spending a lot of time at the house before the move, so the transition to living there has been simple. It has definitely been difficult leaving my beloved apartment, but the result is definitely worth it.

I've been slowly getting used to the new neighborhood. I love the grocery store here, and there's a really neat coffee shop nearby. M is away for work for the next six weeks, so I'm taking the opportunity to do some exploration on foot. Today I finally found my way to the river, and took this lovely picture. I think I'm gonna like it here. :)
